Cutting Edge is a rear-living houseboat that works really well for families and smaller groups who want flexible sleeping, good river views and an easy setup for longer stays.

There are three bedrooms, plus two sofa beds in the front helm area, giving you six beds in total. That front area works particularly well for kids, with its own TV and privacy curtains when needed. In the morning, the beds pack away and it becomes a second living area with two couches and front river views.

At the other end of the boat, the rear lounge looks straight out over the Murray, making it a great spot to settle in at night without feeling shut away from the river.

Outside, there’s a Weber BBQ on the rear deck, plus an external toilet, which saves a few trips through the boat when everyone is outside.

Starlink keeps the boat connected, with Smart TVs inside and on the top deck ready for streaming. There’s also a fully zoned Bluetooth sound system throughout the boat, so the music can follow you from downstairs to upstairs without much effort.

Power is fully off-grid, with around 12kWh of lithium battery storage, 6kW of solar and an 8kVA generator with automatic start/stop backup. The system is monitored 24/7, so the power side of the trip mostly takes care of itself.

And yes, Cutting Edge is pet friendly, so the dog doesn’t have to miss out either.

Cutting Edge is a good fit if you want flexible sleeping, two separate living areas, strong entertainment options and a boat that makes the most of the river views at both ends.
